Have you ever made a Vision Board? I had…in my head…which means I really hadn’t. The idea is you find images and words (usually cutting them out of magazines) that represent what you want in your life. You paste them onto a poster board to remind you of your goals and help you manifest them. You create a vision for yourself. This exercise goes hand in hand with The Law of Attraction. So I thought I’d give it a try this year.
They usually look like the “typical” one shown here. These make me crazy, personally. They can be, or so I’ve heard, extremely inspirational to their creators, but to me they are just so…well, CLUTTERED!
When Oprah came out with a Vision Board creator program I thought I’d try it. But I didn’t find enough images I liked, and wasn’t sure how I wanted to arrange them. So I gave it up and came back to it after I’d realized a few things:
1. I like Oprah’s Vision Board creator just fine (but…she calls it a Dream Board).
2. I could upload any image I wanted to from the internet (as long as it’s for my own personal use), or even take and use my own photos. I love Google Images! Just right click on the image you want and save it to your computer.
3. I could arrange it like the feng shui bagua — no “belief” in feng shui required — which has nine distinct categories for wealth, health, relationships, etc.
P.S. Oprah’s Dream Board program allows one to be as rigid or as free-form as one likes. Go ahead and make a creative mess if you want! You can also add words, and then hide them, or show them again.
What experience have you had with Vision Boards? Please leave a comment!
